VSB or Very Small Business is a subcategory of SMB (Small and Midsize Business). This class of business will have no more than 20 employees and annual revenue that does not exceed $5 million. Often a neglected category, the VSB class is comprised of primarily start-up, family-owned, growth stagnant and restructure target companies. 2012 U.S. Census Bureau data states there were 5.73 million firms with employees in the USA. Out of 100%, businesses with less than 500 employees accounted for 99.7% and businesses with less than 20 employees made up 89.6%, a significant percentage.
